About
EDSA is a Sydney-based rock group formed in the spring of 2019. The band's name is a non-hesitant owing to the infamous long highway in Manila Philippines which became notable in 1986 when a massive display of non-violent revolution was held that ultimately led to the departure of then President, Ferdinand Marcos. The band's music is an homage to the 60s and 70s rock classics that eventually shaped the music of the artists from the 90s that followed not long after. An effect that is also undeniably inevitable to EDSA's catalogue. Although the band's repertoire primarily consists of straight-forward rock classics, during live performances they employ elements of no-non-sense type of rawness to their music, often unapologetic noise not dissimilar to punk. A style that was utilised by The Who during the 60s way before it was regarded as punk and perhaps even grunge. EDSA's vast catalogue of rock classics ranging from Creedence Clearwater Revival to The Eagles; The Beatles to The Rolling Stones - which are easily considered as sure-shot crowd-pleasers - continues to delight audience of varying demographics. Even EDSA's take or loose jams on other legends such as Billy Joel, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder and Eric Clapton and even Bob Marley can immediately put a crowd to a cheerful brouhaha.
